You also get full capabilities of Renoise rather than just Redux. It works vice versa - if you navigate to somewhere else in the Renoise session and hit play, it adjusts in Ableton as well. This way, wherever you put your cursor and hit play, Renoise adjusts on its timeline as well. The closest I ever got to doing anything serious with it is running Renoise as rewire slave to Ableton with tempo and transport sync. At first I was using Redux as well but left it behind due to editing issues you've mentioned. I've used Ableton for over a decade and once I realized I want to use Renoise, I tried coming up with a way to set them up together. TLDR: IF you would like to give me a bit of insight into how you like to use Redux (Specifically the phrase editor) inside your non-tracker DAW, I would love to hear it and it might help me better utilize it in Ableton Live. Hope it doesn't sound like I am complaining either! I suppose I am just really wanting that cohesive Renoise environment without having to abandon my beloved Ableton. This is ok but it makes it really hard to edit sections of a song because starting the clip from any random position in Ableton does not equate to that position in the Phrase (Phrase always starts from the first beat when receiving the MIDI). I currently have a system set up where I have presets of Redux made with 8 phrases ready to go, and then I key map them to a MIDI clip containing 8 ascending notes so that the phrases can be played as a progression. However I am just finding it kind of difficult to create a cohesive environment using the phrase editor inside Ableton Live. Since I have been using Ableton Live for over 10 years at this point, I thought it would be silly to totally put it aside for Renoise so I thought that Redux would be a great way for me to get the Tracker experience in Live. I arrived at a bit of a predicament though. After acknowledging a while back that a lot of my favorite IDM was made on trackers, I finally decided to Grab Renoise and Redux recently.
